Default Re: Mr. Big Stuff Hospital

For those that don't know when a heart cath is done, usually the femoral artery in the groin is used to insert a catheter that is advanced to the coronary arteries ( the arteries that supply the blood to the heart muscle) dye is injected into the coronary arteries and with radiographic techniques blockage or narrwing of the artery can be detected. One of the complications of the procedure is bleeding from the femoral artery, which is a high pressure blood vessel. Blood draws are from veins which are low pressure vessels, but the arteries that are used in this procedure have pressures equal to what ever your blood pressure is and thus are harder to get sealed off. Hope this helps a little. Best of luck to you Mr. Bigg Stuff. Don Jackson
