Best Diesel generator for the money

Ok, I'm looking to put a diesel generator in my trailer. I've got a Guardian 7500 watt gas one now which will be for sale after switching over 2009 112 hrs. runs great but pain in the ***** since my truck is diesel. Who's got a line on the best deal going? Obviously I've considered Onan however they're kinda like Snap-on tools some what over priced. Thanks for any info. Joe Forgot to mention loud obnoxious units need not apply, thanks

Lloyde Wofford's company Pro Pak by Engines Inc. He has been making these generators with John Deer engines on them for 40 years for all kind of applications sizes and shapes for banks and hospitials and also trailers and motor homes. His units are engineered for low cost maintenance and fuel economy.His units will save you a bunch of fuel cost.
Lloyd Wofford or Sonny Stancil or James Caro can hook you up. Let me know if you need any of these guys numbers.

Watch out for anything with a code "H" on it. I can remember back when I was with the Govt' and saw many things that were Code "H" thrown overboard.

Material which has been determined to be unserviceable and does not meet repair criteria; Type I shelf life material that has passed the expiration date, and Type II shelf life material that has passed the expiration date and cannot be extended. NOTE: Classify obsolete and excess material to its proper condition before consigning to the DRMO. DO NOT classify material in supply condition H unless it is truly unserviceable and does not meet repair criteria. ¶

ONAN...... has the best units out there......in the diesel RV market. 5500kw to 12,500kw

If your looking for something larger than the average RV diesel.....

PowerTechs are pretty decent......in the larger units 15 and 20 kw.....They are quite large and heavy and open...not in an enclosure and need a lot of space....

Generac ranks well below the other two

We have one of all 3 brands in our shop right now......

Generac burned up it's brushes....
PowerTech.... radiator neck fell out.....solder joint failed...
Onan 7500 Inverter won;t run and shuts down in various fault codes and not sure whats wrong with that one.......It is a difficult unit to repair as it was front mounted in a big Fleetwood Discovery motorhome. No access to wrok on it and I had to remove the nose to get the genset out.....fixed mounted.....5000hrs........

I still prefer the Onans........and I work on them all the time....

The Onan Quiet Diesel 7500 has an inverter that will have to be replaced in total. You can't just replace the board like many others. The news gets better. About the best price you can find for a rebuilt inverter is around $900 and you will need to send back your core.

It sounds like this is what is wrong with your Onan.
