My 65 Mustang has been in my family since new.
Original 289 Hipo K code 4 speed car with a factory vinyl top. It was raced occasionally by my older brother and became a class car right after he gave it to me in 1971. Except for a hiatus in the 80's, I have raced it since .

Art & Jan Peterson still race the GTO that they took on their honeymoon in 1969, not sure when he bought it.

Yep -- This is the car -- at the time it was a R/SA ......And I drove it to the track -- almost a hundred miles -- uncorked the exhaust - changed the rear tires to Concordes and away we went .Short field -- 129 entries ........The late Mike Smith was in the other lane at Englishtown when he redlit in the final with his SuperStock Magazine sponsored "Project Six Pack" C/S Roadrunner. BTW -- This photo was taken at Cayuga, Ontario, Canada -- long before it became Toronto Motor Sports Park .

Our 68 Camaro, we bought it in March of 72 ,just so I could run INDY Nationals before I lost my other leg. Thank 'GOD' that didn't happen. I was class r/u at the 74 Sportsnations [lost to Felker]& the 74 Springnts[ Lost to Carl Holbrook] We ran it in SS/HA till after the 75 Winternationals, when Bill Felker who was buillding our engines said " Why don't you get a 69 body & I'll run SS/ga and you run SS/ha with the 69. So we took the drive train out of the 68 & put it in a 69 body we bought.
So we did, I put the 68 in the back of our garage till June of 06 when our son Tony restored it for us . We now go to cruise in with it 396-325, right intake & heads, plus the " Hooker headers we ran in 72... |
