This is not the first time a manufacturer has failed to send specs on the cars they build. FYI, a 1978 Gremlin cannot race in Stock or S/S either. No specs were sent from AMC to NHRA that year. Travis (Disclaimer: Opinions expressed by me on this forum are exactly that, my opinions.) |

Thanks Travis. That's what I figured. With all the stuff about the DP combination, nothing was ever done about the showroom type cars. It doesn't surprise me though. It would be interesting to see what classes they would fall into.

How pro-active is NHRA in procuring these manufacturer's HP ratings? Does NHRA just sit back and wait for the information to come pouring in from manufacturers who unilaterally, and without being asked (by NHRA) take it upon themselves to do this???
, Or, does NHRA contact the manufacturers and inform them that certain new cars will perform exceedingly well on the strip, but will remain ineligible to run Stock OR Super Stock, if they (the mfgr's.) fail to send in the requisite specs for classification purposes (and, information to be used for NHRA horsepower factoring, of course.) It would seem to me to be incumbent on NHRA's tech department to leave no stone un-turned, until they HAD what they needed in the way of tech information for all these new motors, but do they go after it, aggressively? I wonder....

Travis,
so pardon my ignorance, but are you saying that it's now a natural D car, as in it's already been factored out of F? |

I am sure glad Travis told us about the 1978 Gremlins. I will take them off my wish list.
