I must be missing something here. If I ordered a cam and thought that I had 1.6 rockers, why would the manufacturer grind my cam short so that it would check ok with 1.65's? I would have thought that the lift should have checked too high if 1.65's were used on a cam ground for 1.6's. Go ahead and educate me.

Billy, My point was why would a camgrinder grind a cam that hits the lift number with 1.65 rockers unless that's what he wanted to do. If the guy making the cam thought that the rocker ratio was 1.6 and you install it in an engine with 1.65 rockers, the cam would check over the high spec. Right?

There is always some variables in valve gear. Pushrod deflection and length, valve spring pressure (checking spring vs running spring), lifter puck height just to name a few. Anyway it was my mistake so we will fix it. I don't anticipate much change on a small cam like we use in stock eliminator. It ain't like them 1" lift things in Super Stock. If the ratio wasn't stamped on the rocker, nobody would care. Very few have anything stamped on them. And like almost all rockers, the things don't check 1.65, but closer to 1.60. The 1.60 checked closer to 1.56 hence the 1.65. Anyway it's done. We still had a good time.

Back in our hemi days we would grind the rocker tips, and play with pushrod length. To get the cam to check legal.
Like Jeff said I doubt there would have been anything said about it if the ratios weren't stamped into the rocker.
I wonder if those people complianing here would like their ratios checked
I think some (a lot) of people would be upset.

As far as the rule on rocker ratio. I think what the HRA’S need to do is measure the valve lift at the rocker. Measure the lift at the cam. Do the math if the ratio is correct or under they are legal. If it is over they are out. No matter what it says on the rocker.
