granted this was my first div race, but i .02 is this....if i took the chance to go and get rained out,why would it be fair for them to let anyone else enter the rescheduled race if they stayed at home ? i took the gamble and lost, but i made the decision to go knowing this might happen.....so i would have to say if you didnt go .... you took a gamble, and lost ...again just my .02 and not trying to piss anyone off

This is copied from another message board. I was not there, so I can not answer:
Did the super stock cars get a pass? It is my understanding that they did not and if not, didn't they say at the track on Saturday that if ALL classes did not recive a run that the make-up would be an open field and open to all who wanted to enter.

Having been there, I agree with Chillik except for Super Stock, those guys should have been the first out Saturday then S/C and the balance of the cars that didn't get a hit. But I don't make the rules, just try to play by them.
Something I was glad to see was calling the race about 9:30 instead of 4:00 or 5:00 ( something that should have been done Thursday AM ) and spending another day in the RAIN...........Now this is just my .02 And yes I did bring enough beer.. |

The issue is once tech is closed the fields are what they are....I have the printed copy of the rules that have been in place for several years....the only decision made was when to call it...and if it was after tech closed on Saturday...which it was....then the fields would be closed.....I asked for them to be opened up.....what else can we do.....its bad for everybody.....I'm sure I will hear why the rules are the way they are....its always interesting to hear the other side of the story....
I will post when I hear back from them..... Rock |

I was there and only live 20 minutes from the track and if it was a divisional other than orp's and the weather looked like it did im pretty sure i wouldnt have made the drive after looking at the forcast. I think not leaving the fields open is very ignorant on nhra's part but what do you expect from them for the people who stayed home smart decision and i too think its bull **** that u cant enter in may. Seems like a win win for everyone. Rock im sure nothing u say will change their minds if thats what the rule says then im sure thats the way it will be. See you all in norwalk.

I agree the fields should be closed for two reasons. 1) its in the rules sheet/schedule they give you when you come in tech closes at noon Saturday. 2) If everyone sat home every time it looked like rain, we would have very few if any events. I agree this forecast was ominous and probably should have been postponed earlier. But, you have all of the Jeg's competitors that have to be decided before Chicago...so you have to take the chance.
You don't have to run all the events, they only count your top five. That leaves you room to make decisions about the trips you make. We have 6 races in D-3 plus you can run two out of division races, so there are lots of choices to try and out guess the weather. I don't have a lot of money either, so maybe this should be one of the choices to skip. However, there is a lot more to the event than just the racing, lots of good friends and fun off the track. If you aren't having fun, and don't have the money....then skip the event.

No I can't afford to piss $700 away to go down there and watch it rain when it was obvious to many that there was no way this race wouldn't get postponed. I've spent $3000 this month alone in new safety equipment just to pass tech. But at some point a person has to use some sense about racing and wasting money. So p.o. friend..
