My helmet has an SFI rating of 31.2A also has a snell. If NHRA bans Impact items I don't think it will matter.

It was announced several times at Cecil County this morning that racers have 90 days to replace all SFI rated Impact products: belts, jackets, pants, gloves, arm restraints etc.

They also said helmets do not have to be replaced. As stated above, helmets are Snell rated, not SFI

A SNELL helmet with built-in SFI head sock from Impact will not be approved.

Am I missing something here??
As far as I know, Impact is a outstanding safty equipment manufacturer.
Doesn't all their equipment pass the SFI test?
Is this just a misunderstanding about legitimate/illegitimate tags?
All we own is Impact because it fits well, looks good and is allmost inexpensive. Don't they pay you when you win? on time? You can even send in a competitors belts and get new Impact ones for a steal. All I'm sayin is we are now on page 4 of mostly people bashing a brand that should be highly respected, and needs our support. Or do you want them to go away to be replaced by a brand that might not do as much for you..the sportsman

I'll wait for NHRA's stand I guess. Surely they can't ban all Impact equipment. Thats gonna be a hard lick. Belts, pants, jacket and helmet. On two cars.

I posted the pictures as a bit of humor. However, if we already know that the stickers were bogus, who is to say that the test were actually performed. SFI is banning their stuff if it has an SFI sticker. I am pretty sure NHRA and any other venue would have to follow suit. Just my 2 cents

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Impact Racing has been in hot water.

NHRA Tech Alert: Temporary Product Decertification
Thursday, July 09, 2009
NHRA has received notice from SFI Inc. that a Notice of Temporary Product Decertification was issued today to Impact Racing Products Inc. regarding certain products (listed below). Therefore, effective immediately, the products listed below will not be accepted for use in NHRA racing at this time. The products are:

Driver suits, pants, and jackets manufactured in 2007 identified as compliant with SFI Specification 3.2A/15 or 3.2A/20

This temporary decertification applies to Impact Racing all driver suits, pants, or jackets manufactured in 2007 whether or not the item has been updated, upgraded, rebadged, or recertified by Impact Racing.

This temporary decertification applies even if a product that was manufactured in 2007 now has a 2009 SFI label affixed to the product. The date of manufacture of the product is determinative.

SFI has informed NHRA that Impact Racing has challenged SFI’s findings in this matter and is conducting its own review of the findings. SFI also has informed NHRA that SFI’s investigation continues. In addition, SFI has informed NHRA that this decertification may be modified, withdrawn, or made permanent.

The earlier recall of the following Impact Racing items remains in effect:

Driver suits, pants, and jackets manufactured in 2008 identified as compliant with SFI Specification 3.2A/15 or 3.2A/20

Driver shoes and boots manufactured in 2008 identified as compliant with SFI Specification 3.3/15 or 3.3/20
