Re: Kurt Busch - Gators
I talked at length with Kurt and his crew about how they were going about trying to run 9.90! They were at Rockingham testing and Kurt said they were changing the relief pressure on the waste gate of the turbo to adjust the e.t.! I said that's a very non-traditional method, how's it working out? He said they went 9.902 twice! They have 12-15 runs on car and hurt a valve and/or valveseat during the test! They were doing alot of stuff today to car before they took to tech. Some of the items they were working on were: Belly pan(cause diaper caught fire),Retorque heads and readjust valves,Class designation and car #210,Lucas Oil Racing Series/NHRA/Mopar stickers(the only ones going on),Some inside wiring etc under dash,His name above the door(just kidding), and a few other things I'm sure! The car weighs over 3,200lbs.,has a 426 motor, doesn't leave very good, and goes about 150 or so(according to his crew chief)! This car is really for racing in a 8.50 class, but I doubt it could get there in this configuration! They are really just trying to have some fun, but I don't think there will be much of that because our 3 time runs are for tommorrow and 1st round is scheduled for Fri. morning! It seems that none of that will happen due to 2 predicted days of rain starting tonight(Wed)! He and they talked openly and are a great bunch of guys! I told him I'll be up at his next race at Bristol Motor Speedway and I hope he's going to get us into the garage area since we helped them with alot of the particulars they were asking about before taking car to tech! I wish them luck but that's pretty much what they would need to get through 1st round! Sorry for the Jason O length of this post but I thought everyone would be interested in what's going on with this deal!
