i was planning on doing that..just to make sure i do everything right...so about 5000 for a motor, 2000 for a tranny, 600 or 700 for a good carb, 800 for a good convertor, 200 for gears, and shifter for 190...so roughly 9500..plus tires, and good shocks..not bad i guess

Make some new friends, go to a couple div 4 races and talk with people with small block cars with motors similar to want you need to make you combo fit. There are some very good folks here that will point you in the right direction.

Have you thought about running some IHRA crate motor stock with the vortec motor you got? You could do that while you're building your other combo?

yes actually i have thought about that,,just havent took the time to check
into all the rules..its really a better deal..half the cars for almost the same money..i bet it would cost half to make it IHRA legal instead of NHRA legal..im going to do some checking today..if you find any usefull info on either class i could really use it.. thanks-colton |

Chuckie,
The reason I suggested the crate motor is thats basically what he has now. He could get his feet wet while building a crossover combo. Chip |

Didn't look to see where he's from but he could run combos with this. Maybe an IHRA divisional. Like you said, get his feet wet. Build the car with the mindset of setting it up for NHRA legal stock later. Figure out what NHRA combo you plan to run and start collecting pieces. Why all the knocks on the IHRA crate combos? I'm no expert on this but the guy can feel free to PM me and I'll help him in any way I can. If I can't get my own car ready, be glad to see someone else make it out.
