In a sense that is correct. In that situation, if I didn't do a proper cleanup, you could take me to civil court an sue me for the cleanup costs, because the EPA would hold you responsible. |

I watched the training video, it took about 15 minutes. Mostly common sense issues, which unfortunately some guys don't seem to have or care. I was at a Div. 3 race last year at Stanton, Mich. and I suspected that my pit neighbor dumped his tank in his RV early in the morning. I didn't see him do it, but I know is that all of the sudden it smelled like *&%$ and I did see dripping coming from the outlet. I asked him, "did you just dump your tank?" He told me no, and said that I was just smelling the local farm fields. It just happened to smell like *&%$ right next to my pit spot, which was directly next to his drain. Proves that some guys never learn or care.

Good point.
Funny thing is people DONT care, I do. We have Well and Septic...this stuff all goes round cycle. I cleaned out my Garage and Basement about 10 years ago (maybe 14) The house was my Granparents, and well nothing needed moved, I wanted to get rid of "nasties" I came up with about 10 gallons DDT, about another 20 of each malathion and parithion, as well as probably 50 gallons other solvents and such that have been long since banned for over counter sale (carbon tet, etc) I called the FD as they have a "Pickup" I was told its only once a year.....Id have to hang on to it till then. I said "Thats alright Ill just dump it in the leech bed" They said YOU CANT DO THAT !!!! (I wasnt serious sheesh) and my Smart *** answer to their once yearly pickup was "Sure , Ive got 16 acres here noone will see" Less than 7 minutes later as I was moving it all back into the Garage to "Wait" for their time of the year, a FD truck and Hazmat truck showed up to pick it up. I think they expected to see me dumping it.....lol.... But I got it outta there..... They were flustered until they figured out I wasnt really serious about dumping it. Then the guy gave me a wink and said, I guess you figured out how to get door to door service ![]() |

Next question is would paying the NHRA penalty exempt you from prosecution by the EPA, or in addition to? Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. ![]() RIP Mark Graham

Someone on the 90s section asked if Valvoline/Pyroil brake cleaner is non chlorinated.
Their website seems to show two types: Here's one listing: Brake Cleaner/Degreaser No VOC 15 Oz PYROIL NVOC15 Brake Cleaner/Degreaser Non Chlorinated No VOC Container Size 15 Oz. Clear Can Transparent Boiling Point 133 F 0.1 Specific Gravity Dissolves .... Here's the other one, says it contains chloronated solvents. Instantly removes brake fluid, grease, oil and brake dust •Removes brake fluid, grease, oil and brake dust instantly •Flushes oil, dirt and carbon from electric motors •Contains no petroleum solvents •Non-flammable and non-conductive •Leaves no residue •Contains a mixture of chlorinated solvents to control evaporation rate •Powerful aerosol assists cleaning action

I didn't know NHRA has the right to impose fines on anyone. I'm pretty sure that is restricted to government agencies. They can charge you but if you don't want to pay I doubt they would be able to collect.

You're kidding, right? You can't possibly have survived this long without watching any other sport on the planet. I won't even BEGIN to list the drag racing examples.

Next will be unleaded race gas, then EPA/C.A.R.B. mandated catalyst systems on all race cars. NHRA doesn't care, as long as there are racers dumb enough to pay. That's okay. I'll wait until November when we can vote out the a-hole lawyers who underwrote much of EPA's frivolous authority and get back to racing, let alone living.

Not, "Hey folks, understand that we have a situation yadayadayada... Please help us out by etc. etc., and we greatly appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation...." Nope, it was "When you lose, LEAVE." A lot of people were severely p*ssed over that deal. Is common decency and tact a lost art?
