I agree with Johnny D.....the super classes don't have many issues....and nhra is happy about that.....(make sure we wear a helmet let us race)lol

that's why this section of class racer is about making jokes and having fun ....and a few issues.....and the stock/super section is about every issue under the sun.....

Maybe it's time to lift the super street rule....for those of you that don't know how it originated...here's my recollection.....way back when.....when Scotty and Edmond began racing NHRA nationals....they were so dominant in super street that nhra felt (and many others I'm sure) that S/ST should be protected from touring pro's like the Richardsons. NHRA made the Scotty rule....

I don't have a problem with lifting the rule....seems like the S/ST guys are staying in that class and we need all the participation we can get....I think we all would agree...but no bitchin if Bill Webb or Damien or Alex or Ricky...(don't forget Mike Ruff is a S/ST guy..you might get him back) or some 16 year old kid wins 3 races...lol

So If I happen to get voted in again.....I will make it an issue....

Let em run 2 cars.....but no roadsters right....(my vette would fit right in)...lol

Rock

On a couple more issues....

The speed limit thing doesn't seem too popular.....its self governing....you can only go so fast....

lowering the indexes is unlikely also....guys with slow stuff would be out....

More nationals and a points structure for S/ST is unlikely....look how long its taking for top dragster and sportsman......the people to deal with it just aren't there...along with the contingency....the participation is still light overall....maybe if they lift the 2 class rule it will improve....

one step at a time....

One thing that always bugged me...SST is an entry level class..what a bunch of crap..

Either make it an REAL entry level class with no Top Sportsman 6.0 cert 600 cu in 150 mph cars, or take that ridiculous title off it and make it a real class, where you can enter another class just like everyone else, and work towards making it a class at more National events...And get rid of the 2800 lbs weight..if you're gonna allow Top Sportsman cars run, who cares what the weight limit is...or at leact get it down to 2600 like IHRA for cripes sake...

At any other venue of racing, entry level is the trophy cars, real street type cars, or real low level cars, with guys getting their feet wet...which couldnt be any further from reality, especially in D1, where SST, with the exception of a very few, is real full on race cars with a pretty good size budget....

and the 10.30's and slower would have to spend some money which would be good for the industry, Your never gona make everybody happy. But we also need to keep up the times, and FYI this is 2010.

I agree lower the minumium weight in S/ST I know of a few people that would go over and run to NHRA if the weight were the same as IHRA. And the no double entry thing is BULL......

I agree with lowering the indexes. Maybe to 10.50, 9.50, 8.50. Change the weight rule for SST to 2600#. DO NOT mess with any issues with "back-half" only. What a can of worms. Any class that has tried that created such a headache for interpretation of where to stop. I agree with a MPH limit but it is probably impractical.
Finally, another impractical solution is to remove ALL electronics, delay boxes, timers, etc. This would really hurt the aftermarket industry. There would no longer be a need for 600+ in motors and all that stuff. It would make the racing more driver friendly and reduce the top-end braking issues.

OR, we could just get rid of ALL the electronics! Problem solved...

Cool Re: Srac

Jason, there is no way you wrote that short of a post. Who stole your pass word? Rock would you wake Ruth up, no ones picked on a hitter since last year about this time.

Jeff,

Keeping my post short was my "out" in case everybody jumped down my throat for writing such a thing. If people started getting belligerent, I would have just said, "I didn't write that! Do I EVER post with ONLY ONE SENTENCE?" Everybody would have bought it.

Now, my cover is blown.
