It all comes down to "supply & demand".
I think calling them "tribute cars" sounds stupid also. But, at least they're not trying to pass them off as originals like was done quite often a few years ago. At least they're being honest about what they are. Maybe it's because buyers are now a lot sharper than they used to be. And why do people buy "tribute cars"? Because they're driveable. They're fun. You can relive your youth. Some of the originals are so valuable, you can't drive them for fear of hurting them. You're afraid to turn them more than 3,000 rpm for fear of launching an original numbers matching engine. With "tribute cars" you can drive them like they were meant to be driven when new. If you should scatter a motor, no big deal. You put another in and it's still worth what it was before.
