Default Muncie in dragway new owners...killer starting line!

Hey all you guys in the Indy area, muncie dragway is under new ownership with Dave Himes. The personnel were a breath of fresh air and they are committed to make that track the best hooking track ever. I believe it, wow it compares with Joliet.

Now if you live in the area $25 gets you a good staring line to work out your high horsepower combo's! I'm going to see if a stock superstock combo would workout sometime next year. A great place to test also, killer starting line!!! I'm Hooked!!

I talked to Dave at length by phone, then towed from the west side of indy up to Muncie. Set my record best 60' and overall passes.....at a Wednesday night test and tune. (1.177 60' time in a 2650 pound door car.)

Dave seems like a nice guy, and his track hooked better than I've ever hooked in Indy.

Dave Whitnack is a new arrived menber of Muncies management deal and probable the most knowledgable drag racer I have ever met In my 46 years of Drag Racing!!! He is a current NHRA National Record Holder in Stock and has an extensive chassis building and engineering background! He also bulit and race several sportsman motorcycles that were track champions at LVMS. He will be sorely Division missed in Las Vegas!! Good luck from all your Division 7 friends.

John,
Is he the taller guy that runs the starting line? If so, he was trying to get me to "turn the wick up" on my leave but I ended up have a bobble in first gear think it was the fuel bowl

tks stacy

Dave is a big ol' Hillbilly about 6'/1 and pushing 60 pretty hard. He dressed out about a deuce and quarter when he left Nevada.... all that good Indy BBQ might be closer to deuce and half by now! I thihk him and his boys ran Muncie before back in the 1990s foe much of rhe decade.

yeah that's him. I'm looking forward to working with those guys next year.

I did spin one time just to flex my muscles a little. I turned the shocks down two turns tight then left at 3800 and spun but...in all fairness Ive never left that tight before.

The guy that runs the lanes (forgot his name) rushed over and apologized and vowed it wouild never happen again. I really wasnt their fault I ran right after a bunch of street cars. Then we all decided that I should run after the s/c cars. The point is they really worked with me.

I guess Dave Himes has a track in tennesee some where anyone know where it is?

Thumbs up Re: Muncie in dragway new owners...killer starting line!

US 43 Ethridge Tenn I believe he was partners with Jim Butler. I had lunch with Dave last week and he told me about this mystical fast black Pontiac GT/AA car. I knew right away who it was sound like the car was running good. Muncie always hooks and hooks hard.

Don: I guess Dave did not mention a certain BUICK was there running somewhat fast for k/sa11.86 the same sat. stacy was there testing. But all kidding aside i've run there 10 or 15 times this year and the traction was as good as any Div. or Nat. event i ran this year. I hope Stacy can get us a combo race there next year! Talking Re: Muncie in dragway new owners...killer starting line!

I have talked with Dave about a combo in the past and I think he is giving it strong consideration for 2010. I was there testing earlier this year and their were 5 or 6 Stock super stocks there. Good to hear the Buick was running good and fast. You dead on about traction it is the best hook I have found in Indiana and it stays all day/nite long.

Happy Turkey Day
