If you want pictures and information on Junior Stock you might wish to follow the thread on Junior Stockers found at: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=201085

At this point in time it's almost 250 pages long with a ton of pictures with a lot of the people who actually built and ran those cars adding to it every day. There's enough good stuff there to keep you occupied for most of the winter.

i've looked at 100 pages of the thread that Chuck posted a lnk to and there are some great pics. One of the things that stands out to me is how many spectators in the stands for stock.

Thumbs up Re: Jr. Stockers

Ive been to a few of the Nostalgia races (MANDRA, NETO, Beaver Springs in July) and they are just about all the fun you could stand with your clothes on. I dont understand why more of the regular stock and S/S racers (with 1972 and older cars....no late model stuff) dont attend? Gassers, 48 Anglias, 409's, etc. No hassels, no hi dollar entries, just a good time and great people. Yeah its a bracket race but so is the other stuff. You dont have to use your best parts if you dont want to unless you just like showing off. You wont get rich if you win one......but how many get rich racing NHRA or IHRA or even win a National event these days and you dont have to take a week off from work to attend one......lol. Best of all you wont be in the tear down barn all night.....Oh I forgot....NHRA dosent tear down stockers and Super Stockers anymore at "MOST" races. Kind of like IHRA. Must be an EGO thing.
P.S. I almost forgot......most vinues do NOT allow 2 steps, or air/elec shifters which means you guys will actually have to drive your race cars from start to finish. .

X-MAN....not sure what NHRA national events you have attended, but at about 95% of the National's I've attended, there have been stocker/super stockers being torn down. Maybe you should actually attend a few of these national events.

Its been since the 1970's and early 1980's since I raced NHRA in H/S and SS/IA. Gainesville, Bowling Green, Suffolk, Ciecil County, Maple Grove, etc. From what I have read, heard and seen in the last few years its been off and on and depending which race you go to that tear downs happen. Didnt hear about any at Las Vegas....did you???? Nor several more during the year. Almost none at IHRA races. Besides the ONLY NHRA race I care to spend my money to see is the Dutch Classic at Maple Grove, Pa. (NO PRO's or Alcahol cars) and a couple of other points races. National Events suck to me. Been there and done that.

A total of seven cars were torn-down at Las Vegas. Three Super Stockers and four Stockers.

I recall the Super Stock cars to have been Gary Swensen (SS/H), Stephanie Wong (SS/JA, and Larry Rush (SS/DA). Stockers were Leo Glasbrenner (C/SA), John Schloe D/SA, John Cooper (B/SA, and Robbie Irving (I/SA).

OK....good deal. Its about time they started doing it again but if Fred whats his name would have read what I said earlier....I said "MOST" races. Not ALL races. All I was talking about was how nice the Nostalgia races are without all of the BULL S##T that goes with running at a national event.
