I remember when Jim Kinnett used to come to my home track in the late seventies with his SS/AA Baracuda. He was running 6.30s in the 1/8 mile. They've come a long ways since then.

I know it works out that at a 1.15 60' he is traveling 36mph!!! Man that thing is flying.

What does that come out to for average accel during first 60ft?

Chris, sorry about that. I was getting home from work and did not think about it to well. To answer your first question he can go 0-60mph in approx. 1.687sec. At the 60' mark he is traveling 52 ft/sec and at 60mph he is traveling at 88 ft/sec. I might be off on some of the math but this should be close. I say it again MAN THAT THING IS QUICK !!!!

If you travel 60ft in 1.15 sec your average velocity is 36 mph, not your top speed. Top speed would be greater than 36 but no way to calculate it. I had a T-bird that would have a 1.21 60 ft and if I remember right the computer said it was 60 mph at 1.6 sec, to 100 in 3.6 and 120 in 5.4 with max Gforce at 2.0 g's so my guess would be the Cuda pulls 2.2 g's and might be at 45-48 mph at the 60 ft mark.
One of the unknowns is how fast the car is going when it actually completes rollout and starts the clock. The above 1.6 sec to 60 mph was from the hit of the clutch, not the start of the clock. That plus the fact that the accel is not linear makes it impossible to calculate velocity at a given point on the track.
All that said, as Robert said, MAN THAT THING IS QUICK. What a ride.

So, I'm guessin' there are about 20-30 $150,000+ SS/AH cars .3-.7 behind. Towing a few hundred miles to participate in Hemi Shootouts may not be so attractive anymore. This is what happens when 2 or 3 competitors get serious about "heads up racing" and leave the rest in the dust, whether from money or hard work or both. Top Stock, Hemi Shoot outs, Dick Butler's continuing quest for heads up racing.....R.I.P.

Shoe polish, brackets, etc, as disliked as they are, allows a chance.

Not mention all of the really bogus crap that goes on when with these heads up deals.
