If anybody is still at vegas I am curious if something is true. Did larry Morgan take his engine back from Ricky Jones before he ran him in the final? Anybody there heard anything?

I like Larry. But if he did I think his popularity will suffer. That's pretty cold.I would hope if he gave me a kidney he wouldn't want it back if I raced him in a final.

This is from NHRA.com

Sunday
Results for Final Round
LAS VEGAS - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 4 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Ninth annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals:

W/L Driver R-Time E-Time Speed
(W) Larry Morgan (Lucas Oil Stratus) 0.012 6.720 205.69
(L) Rickie Jones (Quarter-Max/RJ Stratus) 0.041 6.794 203.16

Jones is 2 - 1 against Morgan in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round. the news from the pits is the Jones was running Morgan power to get to the finals, and after the semifinal Morgan went by the Jones pit and got his powerplant back. Jones put in one of his engines. Morgan with the starting line advantage and take s the win light. Morgan with his first win since Sonoma 2002. This is Morgan's tenth National event win.

Sounds pretty low to me... Just my $0.02 worth.....

It does appear that Jones' performance was off about .08 and 2 mph in the final from all his previous runs. It could be in their contract. Better than a .145 red light tank job by Humphry. Just my opinion, at least they ran for it! Jim

It would not surprise me if this story turns out to be true.

Morgan stiffed me for a lousy $875.00. His driver backed into my car with their semi at the Gators. Chris, the nhra staff member responsible for the event, came over and surveyed the damage to my car and told me to get an estimate and then he told Morgan's driver (Paul) to get the money right.

I got a close estimate (over the phone) from the shop that painted my car and took it to Morgan. Morgan left planet earth when I gave him my info and the cost of fixing my car. He said we ain't paying you a f--king dime. Then he said sh-t, I can have my whole f--king car painted for that much f--king money. I told him what I thought of his low bred a--. And took the info over to Chris, the nhra guy. He couldn't believe it. Chris said he would make Morgan pay up. He never did.

If all this is true, I, for one, am GLAD he'll be trying to win for Ford, next year...

Might be 7 MORE years before he wins another one.

OK, here's the real scoop on this. I spoke with Rick Wolf (no,not that one) an old friend from my SS days.Rick works for Morgan. He said Jones knew he could not qualify with his own motors and Morgan offered him one of his spares. Jones offered to buy it and Morgan said in jest "no, but if we meet in the final don't beat me!". When it was decided they were to run against each other in the final, Jones took the motor out and put his own back in! Morgan said don't do it but Jones said he appreciated the loan of the motor and stated he never would have even qualified without Morgan's help. What an upstanding young man! Morgan is having RJ Race Cars build his cars for next year. See how things get turned around? Thanks NHRA for getting the right "scoop". Jim

I have to say I have known for a long time that Morgan is no angel but I just saw the tape of the Vegas race. I recorded it because I hate the TF and FC BS and only watch the Pro Stock stuff. The playback confirms the info I got as far as I am concerned. Morgan and Jones couldn't have been more cordial and friendly at the post-race interview. Jones thanked Morgan for all his help and said it was because of him that he did so well. NHRA will probably spin it to however suits their best interests. Don't hold your breath for a retraction!
