RJ, I agree with you, even though you drive a Ford. Oh by the way I now own a new Ford Flex. First Ford I've ever owned and love it.

442 it looks to me like your motor needs to make about 540 hp to run 1.25 under. also everything else would need to be really good to do that.

Cool Re: Thanks Findell, Mosbek, and Wann for the Hp!

First the Duster only has to weigh 3200lbs to run FSA. If someone tells you there 340 motor makes 500hp, you should use there dyno so yours can make 800hp. The 340 is a good combo and it does make more than 1.5 per but it does not make 500 are 480 are 460hp. That is a big fish story. I had one of these and it was pretty fast and it did not make anywhere close to these numbers. I vote that RJ is Number 1 on the bs. He has always been there and will always keep that spot. He is the King!

I remember seeing yours at the Orlando test session. I think it was when you sold it. Went in the high tens if I remember right. I just remember it being so fast, I figured one of those with a stick would be killer.

A lot of fast ones out there. I think it is hilarious how this thread started though. BTW I saw one in the barn too. No issues. Good combo for sure.

The dangerous thing here is that all the 1000 foot "divers" (NOT DRIVERS) are ruining it for the fans.
I was at Indy for Thursday and Friday to watch my favourite classes, Stock and Super Stock. It is a dissapointment to go there and see cars lifting during the qualifying passes, but to watch so many cars try to nose an opponent in class and some even getting whizzed themselves by trying to protect the horsepower, geesh. Whats next throttle stops? My car has never been as fast as the "class"of SS/CS
but I try very hard to be as fast as I can be and savour the day when I can go to Indy with enough under the hood to make my opponent wonder if he has enough for me. If I can cast that doubt I will be pretty happy. When they show how fast they really can be I just know I have to work harder.

My point is it is called racing, Pinks is succesful because they do not put up with sand baggers, we as a class do not want to be grouped with the "super bracket" classes but with that kind of showing how could that not happen? This is very dangerous ground and could surely result in the same exodus of fans during our run sessions that the other classes have created.

ARE YOU SURE that protecting you horsepower is that important?

I applaud anybody that has the guts to lay it all on the line ( the finish line) and say this is my best sXXt, catch me if you can! If we all protected horsepower, we would eventually never strive to go faster.

I agree.....very well said. I like the part about "DIVERS" and not drivers. Also the part about throttle stops. Its almost like the stock and super stock guys are using finish line throttle stops. The fans (what few there are) are going to go for a hot dog when the class cars run just like when the .90 guys run. As long as NHRA has a 128 qualified car limit on the field you will have this situation. Maybe they need to go back to class winners only get to run for the eliminator to stop this foolishness.

Mitch

Good to hear from you, I understand that you're out of the country for a while. I appreciate the vote of support for me being the biggest BS'r, its taken me 65 years of awfully hard work to attain all that. I was bought up in the car business and have been selling and BSing since I was about 15 years old. Sold my first New Ford Truck (64 F100 Custom Cab with the big 6) when I was 17. I have heard and delivered about as much BS as any body, If there is any award for attaining this lofty position I would accept it gladly. Knowing so much about BS and all that comes with it is a very enlighting life experience.

I do have a Top 10 BS List, and you will never guess what my Top Pick is.

My official number one BS award must go to the Mopar 340/289 HP Combo, nothing else is even close. And like you and others have said I know a lot about BS, and what took place at INDY should establish without question that the Combo needs HP.

No hard feelings Bud, I look forward to seeing you back in the States and at the races.

A really good stocker is 1.25 to 1.35 x CID. Remember a bored & stroked stocker is usually about 12 CID over advertised.
1.5 is an absolute killer #1 qualifier at most any event...as long as everything else is up to par (or better). Likewise, you can suffer a little on the HP if you have everything else that is super-primo. I'm not sure what language that is but you get the idea.

RJ, The number 1 bs combo is the CJ, It needs about 50 for the rest of the ASA can run with it. The 340 maybe 1-2hp. Missed Indy this year , will be there next!
