As an "oldtimer".....I can tell you that the rule was always that once Tech was closed......the field is set for that event...period. That is the way it was always done as it rewarded those that made the commitment should there be a rainout. Changing that because of "economics" doesn't make sense to me. If your a points racer and in it to try to win a championship, you are there no matter what......Seems like a racer that makes that effort should be rewarded above the ones that didn't......If you were not there you don't race in the rescheduled event....... allowing new entries but no points seems reasonable....but isn't..........because when a points earner gets beat by a non-points earner, there will be complaints about allowing this to take place......
Stick to one set of rules.......

Sure Chris,
what i mean is that people will go to a race no matter what. They dont do family gatherings, can care less if the weather is crappy, etc...while others take all that stuff into account and chose 1 or the other. was that a good explaination? Debbie |

Trust me as much as rain sucks the big one I would have rather been sitting in the rain at Atco (Well I was with Don and Kelli) then having to do family functions. But, sadly when the stepmom's b-day falls on the same weekend as Atco and she's 80% of the income to allow my Dad to go racing I guess you need to keep her happy or you get the plug pulled...lol!!

Yeah, what can I say, me and Don are fun to hang out with and we love taking our adopted son Rob shopping at Walmart and Sleepy's :P
Ya know, all this crap could have be avoided with a post on the D1 website last week. EVERYONE knew it was gonna rain last weekend. How about something that states that with the impending storm, the raindate has been scheduled for the Friday of the October race. As stated in the rule book (at least I'm assuming this is stated in the rulebook) you MUST tech this weekend to race the makeup race. Maybe some racers that were on the fence would have at least took the chance and come down. Kelli 1236 S/ST 1836 S/G

Ahhh I love being the adopted son (Or as Earl puts it the 5th wheel)...Don't forget the dinner at Carrabba's also. Have to keep your son fed!!!
I think we are all beating a dead horse on this topic, some people are going to agree with the decision (the people who sat in the rain) and some people are going to disagree with it (the people who couldn't make it). It sucks for some racers cause with the decision (even with their cars on the ground) to go right into 1st round on Saturday morning some people pulled out (Jake). A lot of people are good pulling in on Saturday morning, taking 1 time shot and being ready for 1st round but others don't want to be the sitting duck 1st round if they have to work and can only roll in on Saturday and get no time shots. I remember as a kid going to either it was the Keystones or Super Stock Nationals and there was a threat of rain the next day and they called the race that night before and it ended up being Sunny and not an ounce of rain on the ground. As we all saw on Sunday it misted and rained in the morning but ended up being a really nice day out in the end. I would just hate to see if it gets rained out on Friday of the October race...what do you do then?? I do think it's going to still draw a good amount of cars in October rather you get 2 time shots or 3 shots cause people want a chance to win a wally and it's the last race of the season...hands down. Here's a question, are the people that can't race the first race going to get at least 2 time shots (weather permitting) because if it's only one and we don't do anything until Sat. I am out! There is now was I am leaving on Wed. night just to try and get a o.k. spot, have to wait until Sat. to even make a pass and then only get one shot and have to race...screw that!
Never mind, I just readt the format on NHRA.com. I should have kept my statement true of not making anymore posts on this subject. Last edited by H.A.A.C. Racing; 06-24-2009 at 10:57 AM. |

The race should have been scheduled for the stock/superstock weekend Atco had on there calendar in July or in early Aug.
