Had a nearly identical problem this past weekend (although on a Dominator). Did three things, and it went away -- unfortunately not sure which one was the solution. What I did: a) put in somewhat bigger idle air bleeds, b) put in bigger accelerator pump squirters, and c) asked the driver to roll into it rather than stomp it. Problem solved.

Quick way to check for plugged idle air bleed run the adj. screw in if no change in idle spped someting is restricting the circuit. Had this on a SS car at indy took carb apart to inspect, cleaned out never did see anything but after reass. carb problem was gone. Joe

make sure your idle air screws are about 1 1/2 turns out from fully closed, and then put a bigger front squirter in the thing, you should be ok then

Bigger squirters, ( mine are .055 in my dragster) and make sure the engine is warmed up properly. It is a bigger issue also if the weather is cooler outside. The problem will show up more when it gets cool at night vs. the daytime, even at the same race.

I'm assuming you run on the stop, that said I would suggest 3 things
1. Lose the power valve and re-jet accordingly 2. Larger squirters 3. Roll into the throttle (if for no other reason..consistency) Just my .02 cen ts...good luck!
