Smitty,
a SS/E (Stocker) car tested last week. 9.65 @146mph with mid 4.4 gearing. I am amazed that you are still trying to blow smoke or really don't get what is going on here. The sky isn't falling, however the Ford charade is busted.

The forumla may work for some combinations, but I think it should be for entertainment purposes only. The formula generates numbers as much as .20 slower than my actual E.T.'s Scary to think how fast it'd go if I knew what I was doing.

Jeff,
Thanks for the info. The calculators may be off on some combinations but they are usually very close on most. Dwyndorf, I know people who are very close to some of these cars. That may surprise you. A little backup information from Moroso, 146 mph with 30" tires at 7,000 rpm equals 4.3 gears. Pretty darn close to what I have been told. 146 mph with 30" tires at 6,800 rpm equals 4.2 gears - still pretty close. 146 mph at 3,485 pounds (about the average weight) equals 830 horsepower. 3,485 pounds at 146 mph should equal 9.20's et. So it looks like these cars are still running high gears. BTW the Ford guys told me they were running these gears as well. I can only tell you what they told me. I hope this helps.

I've run this formula all the way up and down the national record pages in ND from Comp to Stock and you'll find when you start comparing numbers it's more likely that the formula is more accurate than not. It does not work on the Funny car / Top Fuel classes.
The resistance is when somebody is convinced either they or their hero can't be off track. My best ET / MPH in SS/H has been 10.02/132in D/S 10.55/125 and in A/FS 13.26/99.66, each being off by only a few hundreths from the formula. I don't give up until I can meed the goal. It also shows if you are trying to meet an ET goal that it sometimes takes more MPH which equates to HP (given no aerodynamic changes being utilized). So enough about this formula, the bottom line is anybody that's been around drag racing for awhile knows a 146 MPH run is quite capable of a very low 9.20 ET.

That calc for mine is 6-tenths faster than the car runs - wish the car went that fast.

I don't get what the issue is? Ford proposed a factory built stock eliminator car and NHRA accepted it. The car has yet to hit that magic refactor mark but several of you racers want it factored out. Why don't you guys get together and get a lawyer and sue or give it an rest because this is getting old and riduclous. If Ford and Chrysler decided to pull these cars would that make you all happy? Smitty,
I don't think the people who are complaining aboput these cars have ANY gripes beyond the unreasonably soft and unrealistic HP factor they were given. Nobody wants to see these cars go away; they just would like to have a fighting chance to beat them, sometime, witinn the Class racing. As things stand, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
