Hey Joe......
Does anyone remember how we got to this point? Let's go back 25 years....... Race was on sunday only (with a sunday morning time trial). Saturday was a time trial day (for those that could make it on saturday). Then...... somewhere in the late 80's (i'm guessing), some track decided to have a test and tune (and parking ) on friday. That turned into a three day points meet shortly after. I hate racing on fridays too..... but I do like getting home for church on sunday! tom sheehan

Bill, I remember your dad telling us about the crazy days of SS. I realize that with the car counts in Div 1 it would be hard to run a race in 2 days but races like Virginia with lower car counts could work out so if you lost early your on the road sunday at a decent time and if you go rounds or win then you don't mind leaving later and toughing it out at work on monday...at least that's how I feel.

Back in the mid 80's there was a scenario where, due to (as I recall) weather and scheduling issues, there was a need to run TWO WCS Points events in the same weekend. We (myself and Ernie Topping with Mopars, plus the local Ford contingent of Presing, Merkle, and I believe Cottone and Jim Conte) traveled together and all went to Budd's Creek an Saturday, go the whole event in, then immediately drove to Suffolk for the full SECOND event on Sunday. When it needs to be done, it can be done, and it was fun. Although I still can't remember what was longer: The shutdown area at Suffolk, or the drive back to Jersey.

Ed, I think the last pair of cars went down the track at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning at Ennis. It was cool and windy so the dew wasn't a big problem, but once summer comes those late night finishes could get very dangerous. I like the Friday-Saturday deal, when I can get off work on Fridays! It would stink for a guy who has to work on Friday and needs those extra runs to get his stuff sorted out. But hey, don't worry when it's a Sat.-Sun. race they will only charge you extra for test and tune of Fri.

Lets write NHRA to see if we can get a Saterday and Sunday race when the car count is low.

I would rather take a Friday off than a Monday off, plus you have a rain day if needed.
