Sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you'll have it back up and going in no time. We are all too trustworthy at times , i just bought a set of slicks from across the country to have them arrive and be so dry rotted there is no way I would put them on a car.
Live and learn is all we can do. |

Damn Herb! That crank must have looked like swiss cheese!
Dustin, I did the same thing a few years ago, bought some tires from a major performance parts company. When I got them one was fresh and new, the other was about as dried out as a tire could be. I noticed they came from different suppliers. Both from different parts of the country! The only place to by tires is at the track! From the tire makers! Jim

I had a motor in for a freshen up from a former NHRA world champion comp eliminator builder a few years back. I could not believe the 2nd tier parts/shoddy clearances in this motor! - It's amazing to see what some will try to get away with, thinking that no one else will ever see what they've done.

I'm not high jacking the thread but I have a question.
Would it not be better to remove the weight from as far out on the counter weight as you could before you start drilling towards the center? Herb, Had the same thing happen by an AL machine shop that supposedly had built a number of IHRA record holders. Took the second crank to Ed Chandler in Anniston, a one man speed shop, and still have the crank today. |

Well 2 things, either order a Callies to bob weight or turn the counter weights down in a lathe. For a motor making this kind of power an aftermarket crank would have been a little better.

You know you have a top quailty engine machine shop when you get the clutch face side of the flywheel back from them drilled to balance it. Terrill Motor Machine, Hollywood Fla.
