Well, I am kind of new to building stocker engines (built many other small blocks though), but I used the diamond windage tray with a stock Z-28 oil pan. I feel that I should have just gotten the milodon main studs when I did it too, but I did not get the block/mains align honed and therefore ended up using stock chevy main bolts with the studed end for windage trays (I have a mild 307 stocker engine though).
Also, something to note: when assembling my engine I sure had to do alot of clearancing and adjusting on the tray to get it how I wanted it (about .100 to .120 away from the crank).
