Engine assembly bench or engine stand
What does best as far as making power or is there any difference?

Re: Engine assembly bench or engine stand
Good morning to all,
I also understand that Jack Roush didn't use an engine stand either! Funny, both Ford guys, both very powerful................ Might be something to it. Have a Good Day. Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA |

Re: Engine assembly bench or engine stand
I'll take a guess. Some use the theory that engine stands letting the engine hang puts abnormal stress on the block. I'm sure it can make a difference and if you want to you can assemble on a bench.

Re: Engine assembly bench or engine stand
If it pulled them out of shape which is very possible with a stock Ford block, it should still go back to where it was when taken off the stand. A cylinder will go out of shapre with the plate or head off but go back in shape when they are put back on.

Re: Engine assembly bench or engine stand
“ should go back” might be the key phrase there.I’d think they would have some resiliency but how much? I don’t know if Glidden sleeved any of his blocks, but if he did that would change things also.

Re: Engine assembly bench or engine stand
I've always used a stand. At least to finish. I have put the cam and crank in on a table, some times. But always finished on a stand.
