Default LS series engine question

Have a question on the ls series of sbc's. Need to replace the head gaskets on our '01 5.3 motor and have never taken one of these motors apart. Are the lifters on these motors accessible from under the valley cover or from under the cylinder heads?

Doug, lifters / guides can only be removed after heads are off.

Ok thanks Jeff. Will have to get those as well, had a feeling this version of sbc was like the new Chrysler hemis we service at the Dodge store I work at. Not pulling them a second time.

Common plus be sure to always look at the rocker arm contact to valve area. We get those in waves with the dreaded flat tire in the lifter. Only motor we keep all that stuff in stock for.
