I made the 32 car field at the Martin MI. Pinks All Out, believe me they had their fair share of sandbaggers. They picked a field of cars between 10.35-10.50. I ran three 10.36's, so on paper I was one of the quicker cars. In reality, I was probably around the middle of the pack. They pick alot of low to mid 10 second fields so lots of guys slow their cars down, thinking thats what they will pick. A guy pitted next to me was running 10.40's on Fri. and Sat. during qualifying, got booted 2nd round of eliminations for going too quick. He was told he ran a 9.94!

PINKS All Out concept is a passing fad, but the PINKS guys are the innovators here and continually come up with new ideas. NHRA on the other hand only react to market conditions and cashes in on ideas these days. The worst thing is letting NHRA in on this. These guys had the golden opportunity to beat Glendora at their own game. Now it's only a matter of time before they screw it up.

Note the difference in format:

Pinks All Out - race for $10,000 cash + $7000 value tool chest from Napa

Add NHRA to the mix:

Race for the "Coveted Wally"

Where did the cash & prizes go......oh wait I know where...

interesting concept BUT the 4 races scheduled are ALL AT NHRA OWNED TRACKS --So apparently nobody else has jumped on the bandwagon according to that press release---leave it to NHRA but in time they can screw up a good thing too!!!! comp 387

The NHRA Unleashed program is, as you stated, all NHRA tracks. The Pinks All Out Schedule this year is NHRA and IHRA tracks. And, as mentioned, I hope NHRA, and there wisdom $$$$, don't mess this up.

The other and probably the biggest question is "how much control is NHRA going to let these guys have to run the event?".....PINKS if they feel they have an issue to deal with they deal with it at the current event while it is in progress or change the rules for the next event....an example was one track that they found out a whole bunch of competitors were sandbagging...they stopped the show and dug up $500.00 for a bonus to the quickest pass during qualifying, there were a whole contingent of racers who magically went a LOT quicker.....

NHRA can take years to deal with some issues, being quick to "stay with the times" would be a HUGE advantage in the market for racers and fans to show up.....

I entered the Pinks All Out for $60.00 at PBIR in March knowing that it will be either expensive time runs or maybe win $17K. What's the difference with a NHRA points race, expensive time runs, can only win $1k and It's $170.00 to enter. I think that the Pinks is a better bang for the buck. I'll chance $60 to win $17k every weekend if I could. NHRA didn't have any events like it, but now that they are in it, you watch and see that the purses dwindle down to nothing in a year or 2.

Looks like this is an addition to the NHRA/ORSCA deal from a couple months ago. The 4 dates and locations are the same. Maybe NHRA has added the Pullin crew to run it. If you google NHRA ORSCA you can read about that deal. Not likely a Pinks format. More likely the ORSCA format. Or is ORSCA out now?
