Just an aside here...
According to one independent online cost-of-living index inflation calculator, the difference in 1998 and 2008 is a little over 31-percent. Food for thought....

Mayfield360,
Laughter is the only defense we have against these money grubbers. It's all about how much they can pinch from this tax contraption known as the nhra. They make no secret about it. One day a person on the bottom floor of the IRS in Washington will say - what'sthiscrap here??? and make a couple of calls to his/her bosses. Then all of us will be racing for/with Bruton.

Mike,
You must have encountered some mild mannered IRS folks. They live all around my neighborhood (35 miles from DC), some of them should be put on leashes. I doubt the insurance industry is operated in the same fashion as the IRS. Transparency and the nhra really don't mix very well. You think about 50+ years of tax "relief" and that adds up to a lot of OUR dollars.

Ask one of them about getting me a job, I don't get to do enough ball-breaking over the course of the week.

Just go over to their site and tell them you're a major league ball breaker who can't get enough of it. That should put you at the top of the list.

Unless they raise them substantially, it will not be nearly enough to make up for the fact that it is very likely that a large number of contingency sponsors will not be returning for 2009. It is not NHRA that pays a lot for making the final round at an LODRS or National Event.
My bet is that NHRA will be like the vast majority of corporations. Management will continue to pay itself handsomely while the peons struggle to get by. What Asher said is true.
