Should NHRA lower the entry fees & raise the payouts in '09 ???

When is NHRA going to give a little relief to the sportsman S/ss racers and lower the high entry fees at both the national & divisonal level & raise the payouts so we can all continue to race in this bad economy???

They should but will they I doubt it.
With the pro sponsorships drying up. And the pro fields down. The fan base will drop. and I'm afraid that will spell the beginning of the end.
I hope I'm wrong but time will tell.

I bet they are still looking for the price where it begins to limit entries. So far it keeps growing even WITH higher prices. It would help get the meet done faster too if they got more per car and fewer cars.. This economy might slow it somewhat. Its why they kept increasing spectator cost at Nationals. 1000 people at 50$ per is better than 1000 at 10$ per head and if the spectator number drops to 800 it is easier to control and less crowded and STILL biggr money.
Dumb but true....business....Just doesnt work week ends with out a show to draw the crowd.

I went to 6 Nationals in 2008 and the biggest crowd was always on Friday, the cheaper day to attend.
From there the attendance fell off in all but one which was Pamona Finals.
At Pamona the stands were full most of the time and even on Sunday they were not completely full but almost. The opposite was Monday at the US Nationals in Indy. The stands were almost empty for final eleminations on Monday this year. I had been there 2 other times and attendance was dramatically down for 2008.
I expect fees to go up and attendance to fall off in 2009. I know I will not be traveling and racing as much in 2009.

Hey Marty,

This is another reason that I wish the western half of the country could enjoy the option of IHRA drag racing, because competition closer to Glendora, would give them something to think about!!!

Finally, I'd be happier if they just dropped the entry fees (especially at divisionals & national opens), but as another racer (similarly)said---snowballs in hell before that happens!!!

Will hell freeze over?

Will the Chicago Cubs win the world series?

Will Ed O'brien be the next stock world champ?

While this would be nice, if you think it's gonna happen you are suffering from hallucinations.
