If you think about it this really worked out in NHRA's favor. It forces a number of the sportsman to show up at the sports nationals. It will add a significant number of cars to the event that without this happening would have had extremely low participation.

Jeff, it isn't hard for me to figure out. I was going to Columbus already and then IHRA buys it and schedules races the same weekend I was already planning on being there. Now have a chance of winning $10K. NHRA then moves their race 9-10 hours away from me for less way less money and close to same entry..
I'm going 5-6 hours away for the chance of a lot more money and a possible adventure?

I doubt many from a long way off like Pennsylvania will be traveling to SGMP to complete the bristol race. Although it does make it a 3 race weekend for some that will make the trip.

While my racing has been almost non existent the last few years , I plan to be at INDY in the Downing / Wong camp cheering on my close friends.

Do you think the IHRA is actually going to happen?
It's not on National Trails schedule, there are no S/SS rules, indexes, a way to buy a license. I know its a good payout, but with less than a month away its hard to plan, load up and show up at the gate with no direction from the sanctioning body running the race.

I agree with you. There is a Pro Am on Trails Schedule July 9th and 10th and a National Event the 11th and 12th. I'm like you, I'll believe it when I see it, but hoping it happens

Ya might want to have a back up plan JUST IN CASE. I heard that Gatlinburg ,Tennessee is very popular that time of the year …..

The IHRA website has a membership portal. I have spent my money and requested a SS number. It has shown up on my credit card statement but I have yet to receive any membership card from them. I agree it does make a person wonder what is happening at their HQ. Lets hope for the best. NHRA needs competition.
