This is an over generalization but usually lower (mechanical) compression ratio engines prefer lower octane, faster burning fuels.

Honestly just my opinion. He is running either a 302 or 351C in a heavy stocker. Race gas is expensive.

How does that matter?! If you want to play this game it's kinda/sorta a necessity, isn't it?

I use either C10 or 260GTX when I have the O2 sensor in. I was getting the C10 from the depot in Pasco but they lost the contract to TARR in Auburn. The 260 took a long time to get for some reason. Otherwise I use Sunoco 110, price. Our hometrack (Renegade) just signed Renegade race fuels as official fuel. May be trying that out.

Used pump Sonoco high test, VP and Sonoco blends. Mostly Sunoco because that was what was most available. Lots of documenting. My engine is an LT1 iron head. I have O2 sensors and tune with factory pcm.. The best difference was 3 hundredths of a second. That was a oxygen rich day using Sunoco 110 All were same on muggy hot days. Prefer the Unleaded Sunoco 260 GTX. Seemed to do a little better than pump Sunoco. Since it was 100% gasoline. Then again minimal. This year will stick with the pump Sunoco. |
