Dan - I believe that they're "wheel cradles" from the people that make those inflatable chassis stabilizers (also a must for dragsters)

Dan I came up with an idea using the Rotary Lifts tire plates. They assure that the car is in the trailer at the same exact spot. Go to http://www.rotarylift.com they should be able to help you find a local dealer in your area. Additionally, I use a plate for each wheel.
