Mineshafts Conditions "REALLY"

For those of you who want this in S/SS my suggestion is build a Comp Car and stop trying to bastardize our class even more !!!

The problem is the guy that goes fast enough to get a hit can usually afford to take the hit.
It's the guy that never gets to run in "mineshaft" conditions that gets hurt from a hit.
They get hit, then can't make the field at Indy or get beat in a heads-up run.
But that's the way it goes.
Anyone can put a car in bracket mode. But if you blow a class win or a heads up race protecting. You should not be racing.

And if you don't have a lot of guys running your combo the average changes fast. Harder to get back down I would guess.

I sure agree with your last statement. Especially heads ups and class at Indy.

In a case like mine (one other car in the class) I can try to control my own fate. I take 1,000 out of each shift point, run a tire that is 2.5" taller. If I mess with the timing much I can't get it to clean out before I stage (that will be worked on a bit shortly) All in all I can knock .035 off, and I'll just lift a bit early. At Reynolds last year I was braking hard at the 1/8 mile. That seemed to give my competition fits. Nothing like crossing the finish line at a blistering 40 mph.
That will do for eliminations and points meets (hopefully I can get a few .036 to .040 unders).
In the class eliminations I'll use as much as I have to. If I draw a hit so be it. I'm not going to worry one bit about it. I spent a couple of races worrying about how fast I was going to go more than if I was going to win or lose. That was one of the most stupid times of my life. I felt like I was putting my hand out the window for the time slip while I was going by the 1/8 mile marker.

Well anybody that wants to come play in Comp we welcome you. Watch out for that CIC though. As mentioned earlier, at -.61 under you hit it and everyone in your class, regardless of the combo, gets it. Nothing like getting flamed by guys from across the country that are not even in the hunt for a Divisional or National Championship. The real difference is that in Comp the drivers usually, but not always, hit the index when they are trying to win a race or a Divisional/National championship. I have seen some SS/S racers trigger it for no apparent reason. Before you blast me, yes we do have a SS car too. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Pomona.

The pound per cubic inch SS cars are the same they hit the class index not the combo.

In Comp, when the barometer is good, chances are you wont get by more than 2 rounds without taking permanent CIC. I put my Goodyears on and flip a switch. LOL
The FAST XFI holds something like four tuneups. I use two, have a switch on my shifter mount plate. Bracket mode is minus ten degrees and plus 20% WOT fuel from 6500 & up.
Doesn't screw with my lights or my leaves.
