Horsepower adjustments following the Jegs SportNationals
As the result of runs under the Automatic Horsepower Factoring System (AHFS) 1.20-second under policy at the Jegs SportNationals, the following change has been made. The horsepower rating for 1999-2002 GM Camaro/Firebird, entries with the 346 cubic inch engine and a factory rating of 320-325 currently rated at 369 has been increased by twelve horsepower, to 381 horsepower; for Stock Eliminator NHRA's 2012 Automatic Horsepower Factoring System outlines that any run of 1.20-second or more under the index will receive an immediate index decrease or horsepower increase. These changes are effective Sep. 24, 2012. Is that basically the same engine as what is in a 2004 GTO in E/SA rated at 340? |

It's exactly the same as the engine in the GTO (and Corvette) rated at 340.

Countrypuppy,
Your argument does not hold water. If hitting the breaks gives you more mph then tell me the trick to run almost -1.00 and killing 20mph, do you drop the laundry and let the shoot do the work??? If you hit the brakes right at the finish line, the nose will drop and break the beam, shortening the time between the mph cone and the finish line. If you do it right at the end, you won't be on the brakes long enough to kill more than a thousandth or two and the overhang more than makes up for it.

Andrew I understand what you guys are talking about but his runs look like this
10:253@132.06 -1.147 10:304@128.66 -1.096 10.433@111.81 -0.967 on this pass he killed 20mph and still runs basically -1. under I think an extra 100# will be ok. And this wasn't even the car that ran the -1.20 under.

Kris,
For the record I didn't say they won't be OK, but the other 100 LS1 cars that were all probably atleast .15 or more slower than them it makes a big difference. Oh, and I never saw you on a qualifying sheet anywhere, so I would appreciate if you back off your keyboard a little bit. Also, he didn't kill 20 mph on the 43 run because the actual mph would probably be around 128-129 as he went 128 on the 30 pass. Also, Kris it appears he shut off at the 1000ft which usually kills around .13-.15. That's how you kill about 17 mph. However, to kill 17mph by shutting off at the 1000ft and still go -.96 you have to be able to run about -1.09-1.11.
