You are correct Carl it was SS/O because we ran SS/P back in those days...

3 pages of response to the best Olds Super Stock of all time and no one has even mentioned Bob Dennis !!! Bob still has 3 Super Stock cars and I may be wrong but I think that 2 of them still have Oldsmobile engines in them. I also think that the Olds that he won Indy with a couple of years ago had a 307 Olds power plant. I dont see or talk to Bob as much as I use to but I think what I stated is accurate.

This car has little more history.............. this car was originally Dad's 1970 King Olds Smothers Brothers car. it was painted that year all white due to Tom and Dick getting in trouble on tv. at the end of the 1970 season the changes to a 1971 body were very minnor and Dale Smith sent dad the items to turn the car in to a '71 that is the year it was painted with the blue"fish scale" as dad calls it and ran the car in stock almost winning the division 2 championship. as 1972 rolled around the changes to the from factory included a hood change the original hood is still in his shop mint cond. as we all know NHRA rolled stock into super stock and dad ran the car as a SS/O all of '72 as for when he sold it to Buddy not sure but Dad then went to Modfied with a 67 Camaro. So Buddy's car came right out of the Factory wars. To the tune of it helped oldsmobile win the manfactures cup in 71,72. Jeremy Waibel K&N '69 Camaro Waibel Competition NHRA 2230 |

It might not have been the best of all time, but Bob Dodson and Danny Lattimore's SS/NA, 455 Delta 88 took Indy by storm one year in the 80's. That was one neat Super Stock Olds, fast and it looked like Grandmom going for groceries. Lattimore's 455 Cutlass S 4 speed SS/K car was super neat to watch pulling big wheelstands off the line. Clean and fast. Two great Olds from the past!
