Default Re: VP "Sportsman" fuel

I`m not sure if it is the same stuff that VP used to be called "Motorsport red", but when I started running my low compression 5.0 Mustang in Stock, I tried that fuel, since it was cheaper, on the NHRA approved fuel list, and it seemed to be a "waste" putting something like C12 in a small block with less than 9.0-1 compression. Well, I tried several times, and every time I went thru fuel check, it failed. I even bought 5 gallons from a just opened drum at the track, took it directly to fuel check, and it also failed. The fuel check Tech guy said that he had seen several guys with the same problems in fuel check with that fuel. I switched to C12, and have never had another problem at fuel check since. So, if you do decide to try this "Sportsman" fuel, I`d have it tested before putting it your car.
