Yep --at least not one that is specifically being run for CLASSES that you will not see taking part in a BRACKET race championship---wanna bracket race go to the BRACKET RACE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RACE in Pomona not the Automobile club of Southern Ca. Finals that is/was being contested this weekend

The Summit National ET Finals bracket cars have been racing off at Pomona for the Nat. Championship for 10 years now.
The brackets only go to the BIG stage once a year! Remember, they are on bottom of totem pole at that race but they don't care because it is a ONE chance race of being the National ET champion. We can bet if you were in that position to be racing at the bracket finals in Pomona you wouldn't be b*tching about it. Yes I am a bracket racer and also crew/lover of S/SS. |

Myself when it comes to bracket racing I personally have absolutely NO interest whatsoever in watching or participating in it---If that is what you like to do fine I respect that but it is not something I choose to be involved in. I also like Nascar and when the NFL games are on I watch Nascar as opposed to football---Does not make me a bad person its just what I happen to like. I also do not like peppermint or eggplant but some people do. I still am of the opinion that ALL Bracket racing and that includes SG or S Comp is not legitimate drag racing.
Now as far as the Stock and Super Stock competitors that raced and may even have won Congradulations on a job well done. Comp 387 |

There's a whopping 28 bracket cars and bikes trying to win the championship. What's that take? 5 minutes to run each session? Give me a break. Like has been said, the top fuel, funny car and alcohol cars took forever! I sat in the stands with some friends Friday during TF qualifying and it was a joke. Took forever with cleanups during the first few pairs until they got to the regular teams.
The new blood for stock and ss will most likely come from these ET participants and their friends....the D6 sportsman rep was asking questions and considering running stock next year to take advantage of his gold card. He wasn't so sure after the weekend was over with all the pro delays. Or if he got on here and heard all the whining about those lowly bracket cars messing up the whole program... |

Bob Glidden once said that if it wasn't for bracket racers, drag racing might have faded away....they kept the tracks in operation during the very dark down period of the '70's
Maybe some people have forgotten how FEW class cars were out there racing back then. No track could have survived this period without the growth of grass roots bracket racing...... I can easily recall the period right after the oil embargo days of 1973 and the next few years. Stock was gone....Super Stock was run off indexes with NO breakout....after a few cars won all the races practically no one showed up and there were NONE of these cars running locally to support the racetracks.......... Today tracks are surviving on T&T'ers and the imports racing friday nights and off days........bracket cars are still a big part of it but not the main part and class cars are about the smallest of the group supporting your local tracks....... So all class racers owe bracket racers some thanks for keeping things going......I have run both and feel I am a bracket racer more than anything else. I love my bracket racing friends and my class racer friends......

![]() Bracket racing is the breeding ground for many class racers - full tree as well as pro tree. There are more important things to complain about. |
