Using a spragless converter helps out in this situation.

Think about it this way: let's say you pick 5 seconds. Because of changes in weather (DA) your car is winding to a different RPM in the first 5 seconds, then you shut it down for some period of time. But from a different RPM each time.

If you shut down right off the line, you come down off a consistent (rev limited) RPM every time. The RPMs for the first N seconds are always the same. Not if you choose your way.

Also, think about how weird it would be to judge the stripe when slowing down... that'd be strange...

But hey, give it a shot...
In 2001 Ed DeSault was SG Champ He beat out Scotty Richerdson. Ed stops off the line then turns stop back on at the other end. If he needs to he will hit the over ride to get back in front

At INDY, SC 228, Paul Fink, runs only 116 - 199 mph. He lost in round 2 (112 mph) because he was unable to judge backing into his opponent. It's just as hard going backwards.

I sure hope you mean 116 - 119, otherwise that's a pretty darn big window

It's not much of an accomplishment, but I did manage to be #1 qualifier with a 6.301 (1/8-mile) at the recent D6 National Open, and ran a 6.300 1st round (then screwed up and ran 6.292 with too much stripe in the next round, trying to decide whether to race the nose or tire of the opponent), all at around 103 mph. The next slowest mph was around 113, while most were in the mid-upper 120's (and at least one over 130 mph). I was using a borrowed Dedenbear stop, hooked to a switch on my shifter. No timer at all, and manually shifting. I have good visibility in my car, so I can see them coming up on me. If I can afford it, I will run the upcoming D6 LODRS race the same way, should be fun.

Regards,

Top end stops has been around for awhile! Now they are back! Just dail your car and don't take to much strip!
