Default GM 010/020 Blocks

How much HP have you Super Stock guys pushed out of 010/020 blocks filled with hardblok to bottom of waterpump with ARP main studs and factory caps in a 327 and in a 350 ?

If you could answer these 3 below that would sum it up
HP ?
RPM ?
CID ?

Also, do you guys know where to find any 3.25" stroke GM cranks ? Large or small journal, if so can you please post a link

People have made 600+ horsepower and ran 9000 r.p.m. with good rock blocks,good being the key word there.The thing that sucks about rock blocks the most is you really don't know if you have a good one until you build a high performance engine with one and take the chance of knocking the side out of it..Yes you can use a sonic checker and all that but it still no guarantee.A reasonable number is probably 500-550 h.p and about 8000 r.p.m. I would not go more than 4.070 on the bore size on the block you are talking about.I have also seen brand new engines built with rock blocks knock the side out ,so needless to say I am not really a fan of them.With the price of after market blocks as reasonable as they are any more I really don't see much point in using one unless it is for a budget build.Also,what kind of crankshaft are you looking for,after market or a factory core?

Yes, this one dont want to put a ton of money into

Bore will only be 4.030"

Will be sonic checked

Will be filled with hardblok

Will have head/main studs

these are the pistons we are running. They are 329gram piston, 88gram wrist pin, .043" .043" 3mm ring pack with gas ports, accumulator grooves and anti detonation grooves

best stock small blocks. know of a few 9 second cars built before the ease of availability of good quality aftermarket blocks. friend has a few of these 010 over 020 blocks sitting. the blocks I know of took a major beating.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the information. I have not really used a ton of these blocks for race engines, a few but not at this kind of rpm

I usually use a 2 bolt main, filled with hardblok with Milodon splayed main caps (which i thought about on this one)

Being this is what i would call more of a budget build i thought about using the domed pistons which are 480gram, that would allow me to keep the 329gram pistons to save a few $ for a super light aluminum rod (about 435gram rod)

Im gonna use my Comp cam which is HXL intake lobe and RZ exhaust lobe. 307/317 @.020" 278/284 @.050" 201/197 @.200" .726"/.660" with 1.6/1.5 rockers 106 degree lobe seperation
