My son manages an Interstate Battery dealership and they can get, but do not stock 16 volt batteries.
It is not usual for him to get a desperate call from a racer whose 16 volt battery has failed, they need one to go to the races and cannot find one locally.

As long as you have a 12v charger in your trailer you can always put a 12V battery in the car as a back up plan. I always have a 12 v charger for the trailer battery. Nothing changes when you go back to 12 v. except the starter will crank slower and the car might slow just a bit. My car was consistently faster when I made the switch to 16v
