Not a very good picture but found this in an album at my mother's house. Probably taken in 1974 or 75. This was my old street Pinto, which I raced occasionally in X/S. It only ran in the 17's/18's, not very impressive. Straight stock 2000cc engine, Appliance header, not much gear, street tires. Only ran it at the local tracks. I drove it there and back home.
Even back in those days, there were usually a car or two that would show up. So, you often had to earn your class trophy. Typically, you got drilled in the first round of eliminator. Every great once in a while, a street car could go a round or two, best one could hope for. Just a glimpse into a past of long ago. May not have been a "king of the strip". Sure was fun.
