While she may still not get it, I try to explain handicap racing to others by saying something like:

Sportsman racing puts emphasis on consistency, predictability and driving ability. It allows more people to be competitive without being dominated by money, even though it's still not easy or cheap. But there are still heads-up races during class and regular eliminations that puts more emphasis on a driver's mechanical talents when extra resources are available.


Aren't there "handicaps" in bowling and other sports?
