Joe did admit he had the same carb at Indy. However, I've never heard of a retro-disqualification, if that's what you're getting at. It's considered water under the bridge.
A racer could have different carb or even a different engine in his car at a current race.

I wish they had the staff to do teardowns as frequently and for the numbers they did in the 70's and 80's. You guys pay way more than we did back in the day, so you would think they could support a few more good tech guys! By the same token, you might get thru in the old days based on who inspected your parts vs who didn't. Marty Barrett and Greg X. often saw things differently, yet both were kind of black and white, with no shades of gray. Maybe it is the same here with your Mark Twain comment... be glad you get less government than you pay for.

Ha ha... wait for an engine builder to get thru tech, that is a good one. In the old days most of the peeps driving were the engine builders..We had cced heads and ports when that became the vogue (think the horse was already out of the barn when they started doing that?) But you had measured all of your parts when you assembled the engine.

Joe is always in the national points chase, will he have to claim this race as one of the three national events?

If I remember correctly you claim your best 3 of 5 national events and best 5 of 8 divisional races for the national championship. I think a DQ results as a zero point race.

It's "Best 3 of 6" nationals, and he claimed his 6th national way back in July. No points implications for any national events attended since then.

I will try to educate everyone so this can all be put to rest without any additional posting.

Per all of the "Statements of Action against participants" posts on NHRA racer, when there is a disqualification it states "This violation resulted in disqualification from the event, zero points awarded, and the event counting against his total number of eligible scored events for the season."

Now, the question then becomes what is a SCORED event. There are different definitions for SCORED or CLAIMED event. You can find the definitions here: https://www.nhraracer.com/Files/Comp...ker_Policy.pdf

A scored event for national event purposes is the 6 events you attend in chronological order. A claimed event is the best 3 events of the 6 scored events.

There is a question whether this event would even be ELIGIBLE since it is after the first 6. For arguments sake, lets say NHRA makes it to where it has to be one of the eligible scored events. Therefore, in Joe's instance, this 0 would replace the last of his scored events as points are awarded in chronological order. The 0 would replace the 51 points he earned at Adel. However, even the Adel 51 was not a claimed event.

Meaning, regardless of the decision on whether its eligible or not...Joe's points will not be affected and there is a lot of discourse here that is going to amount to literally nothing.

Time to move on to another topic.

While I am working on a car I should best be considered a observer of this and I know most if not all will not agree with me. To me it's time to get over disqualifiying hard working dedicated racers over thousands of an inch and modifications that do nothing. Many of these parts are over 50 years old , hard to find and have been massaged to death. Why not open it right up, if it's the right number of barrels from the original specified manufacturer , rochester, carter , holley , or ? bolts to the original manifold bolt pattern it's good to go.

Or why not just go to a flat hood, stock appearing and a 9" tire and call it Stock?
No more class eliminations or heads-up runs either. Maybe we could call it Stock Bracket!
