This is a curiosity question.

What is the co$t to build a competitive 426 Hemi for the Hemi Challenge???
I have heard $250,000.

Also, is a big part of the cost in the heads??

>>>>>Senior moment - - I meant to say $150,000.

There is no way they cost that much. The whole car isn't that much. Like any engine, the majority of time is in the heads. I have no idea what an AH engine costs but I would guess around $75-100K. Just my guess

Call "Charming" Charlie Westcott and if your lucky (depending on his mood) he may give you a price.

That?s a down payment 75000+ to build a roller
I?m talking brand new
If a Sbc stocker engine is $20000 to $30000 for a killer
Hemi gotta be twice the price
Don?t forget a year of research and development that?s every year
Oh you need a transmission $$$$

If the Hemi cars are a Super Stock class (SS/AH) they are affected by the AHFS just like the rest of super stock or stock. So if the fast cars get hit with hp it just causes that much more spending to be on top.
I don’t think $250K is that far off, certainly more than $150k

If your just writing checks, good cars are $100,000+, good engine/trans $100,000+, and you really need at least a spare of everything, so $300,000+, and no guarantees that you'll ever win a round.

Question Re: Sox & Martin HEMI Challenge

So what was wrong that they DQ'd both finalists? Must have been something common in the class?
