What kind of difference are you seeing in 60?, short time and et leaving off footbrake vs 2 step in a non trans brake car? Also on the 2 step are you leaving wide open throttle or just enough to activate it? Thanks Doug

I'm going to do some testing on this topic myself soon. I think it depends on how your carburetor is set up. I've 2 stepped my car since I put the new engine in it last year, and I like being able to bump in at around 2000-2200, and then mash the throttle and not worry about the launch rpm. I've also chilled my engine a few times and haven't had a hesitation, where I've heard of racers having issues getting there cars to leave off the footbrake when they are ice cold. As far as EFI cars are concerned, I drove a car that was religiously foot braked by the owner, but I decided to use the 2 step that was in the car. It was a little faster on the 2 step (.03-.04) than on the footbrake.

some are quicker and some are the same. That said, footbraker's stage RPM is typically limited by the ability of their brakes to hold the car, where's transbrake launches are not so if you stage at a higher launch RPM off the tranbrake you should run quicker assuming the car works.

.05 sec. for my 4 cyl. stocker
2 step vs. footbrake but then again it's a turbo car so maybe that data does not apply to a n/a setup

To borrow from former NBA great Dr. J. (Julius Erving), "I'M OLD-SCHOOL", so footbrake racing is the way I go.
Besides, that's one less part in my car that can go bad when it's supposed to be good!

Are you guys using an adjustable brake pressure switch? Are you adjusting RT with brake pressure? Launch RPM? Or both?

I have an adjustable brake pressure switch. It has separate adjustments for ?arming? the 2 step and ?releasing?. This can effect reaction time a little, but mostly I use RPM adjustments for R.T.

I’m new to 2steps (previously raced transbrake cars) not knowing where to start I’m at 2800 rpm using an electrical switch on the pedal. I see cars that roll forward before lifting the front tires and that would seem to be the best rather than picking them up out of the beam. I haven’t tried footbrake since the first two runs on the car. I’m also going to try and compare the difference. I have bias tires on the car now and 60’ 1.37-1.39 but plan on switching to radials. Is the leave comparable or am I going back to the beginning?
