We had a '69 Impala with the 327 in it that my grandfather towed a boat with cool car....but, that was the year of Chevy defective motor mounts ( there was no safety interlock in them) if they separated the engine would fall onto the steering linkage and you couldn't steer the car. GM had a recall and the fix was a bracket that attached to the exhaust manifolds with a cable looped around the upper control arm mounts. I was with my mother in the car when she rear ended someone, the engine went out through the radiator the recall brackets ripped the exhaust manifolds off of the engine and the throttle was pulled WIDE open, this thing was screaming (pretty exciting). In a panic mom asked me what to do, I said turn off the key. Dad fixed that car as good as new.....

Paul,
You seem to be the guy with the answers. Didn't they only produce 99 COPO Chevelle's with the L-72 427/425hp? How about the COPO Camaro, didn't they produce 1,014 of those with the steel head L-72 427/425hp engine?
Thank's.....

Wow my 1969 Impala is slowly getting back together after 5 years in restoration. A way too expensive restoration.

But this is so cool.

I have a 350/255 by Bud Rowe with the Old Stocker cam in it.
He built and dynoed the engine 8 years ago and in storage.
It is a natural L car but thinking to move it up in K.
Wonder how it will do?
Need to consider which trans.

Can you run a 4L60e instead of a T350.
Just set up using Drive only?

Paul,
Thank's for that info. I have a1969 SS/RS Camaro with the L89 opition factory stick car. I believe they only produced 311 of them in 1969 and like 286 in 1968. Correct?

Thank's.........

C-Man,

1969 Chevrolet

In late-1968 the first 'COPO' cars were built for {1968 NHRA Classes}

Camaro 'L-72'............... SS/D or SS/DA

Camaro 'ZL-1'...............SS/B

Chevelle 'L-72'..............SS/D or SS/DA

A Corvette 'ZL-1' was proposed for SS/A or SS/AA, but the $10,000 'plus' Price Tag was too steep,
and only '2' of these Monsters were ever produced.

The NHRA 'changed' up the classes in January 1969
