How many million$ do you think those two companies wrote off for the team force extravaganza?

Add the money up divide it by terrible tv ratings and it doesn't take a genius to go elsewhere with your cash if you are as big as bp (castrol) and ford.

I predict those two will not be the last two big companies to bail from the sinking ship.

Jmo...

Let me see if I can explain some things....first of all I spent 40 years with a fortune 500 company, many of those in marketing and advertising.
Let me start with why products advertise....obviously to get people to buy there products. That is how they make money.
Companies advertise their products with the most efficient way. In order to do this, they need to identify their target demographics. Let's take Castrol for example. The target demographics for Cartrol is probably: male 18-34 age group..... Tampons, on the other hand would probably be female, 18-34.
Advertising is based on a CPM (cost per thousand). So, as an example, if you were selling tampons on TV, it would not be wise to advertise during a NFL game. Conversely, you would probably not advertise Budweiser on a Soap Opera.
It may sound stupid, but it is really pretty simple. It is impossible to measure the success of a single advertisement. An example is "this Bud's for you"....by Lou
Rawls......it turns out that Budweiser made a huge mistake thinking that they would communicate with the black community.....when in fact Lou Rawls was considered a "whitey".
So, the only measurement available for advertisers is CPM.....then you look at the results. In the case of Castrol and John Force, you could say that he is doing a great job for Castrol, and probably is. There is no way to measure that, except to have people say that they buy Castrol because of him...(take a guess....1,000 maybe?)....On the other hand, could Castrol invest their advertising budget to get more favorable results?????? I would say they probably could....If they are spending.......say $3 million with Force.....they could take $1 and promote their product with Auto Zone or O'Reillys with a buy one and get one free.........and immediately increase their cash flow.

Just something to think about for those of you that think that putting someone's name on the side of your car is a good deal for the advertiser......unless it generates increased sales and profits...it is not a good deal for them..
one more note...Dan Fletcher is advertising Peak Oil....a new product....That is a great combination....and a good move for Peak oil. AlAnabi on fuel car will not make my go out and buy an AlAnabi....???????
