charlie nielsen (sp?) is the man in charge of contingency and the new class structure, im sure if you call nhra they will give you his extension or email..he was very helpful and easy to talk to, he also asked that we give him feedback on the program..he seemed to think that this was a way of getting more sponsors on board with paying for class wins..

dont get me wrong, im bummed about not getting paid for winning class, but this is what we are stuck with, we might as well make the best of it

I make that some days sitting right here typing on this key board. No boat expense, no sun burn, no boxing and shipping big-azzed smelly fish to Japan, etc.
My wife does the shipping here. No smell either. LOL

The single class car winner recieves 80 points. you can claim points at three of your first five nationals..

they are using the lucas oil points structure, c/sa had 10 cars at charlotte and the points were awarded as follows
winner 85 points
runner up 64 points
lose in the semifinals 42 points
lose in the quarterfinals 31 points

the points structure is the same for the single car class eliminations with the exception of the bonus points

looks like there will be a number of drivers tied for the championship
the first tie breaker will be the number of class wins
the second tie breaker is head to head
charlie was not sure what the next tie breaker was
i dont think the first two will factor in at all, but we will see
Since the single class cars all get thrown together and race to a single winner why would they not get the same points. If I read that correct say you have two g/sa's the winner of the run gets 85 points. And you have 8 single class cars the winner of the single class cars goes 3 rounds and gets 80 points. Or am I miss reading something.

if I ever make it back out I have nothing to worry about any class I run is usually well populated. And I have no chance of winning unless every one redlights.

That is what nhra calls fair. If you have 12 cars in the single auto or stick. and another car has 1 other car in the class. The car that runs one round and wins gets 85 points. The car the wins in the single category. runs 4 rounds and gets 80 points for a win.
Their reasoning is that they want you to add or subtract weight to get into a class that has somebody in it.
Well can someone explain how the hell I can do that? or how a car in a 6 cylinder only class can do that?

The way it works is I could you out and run 4 rounds to win the class singles deal. Do it 3 times. Never lose a round. I would have 240 points racer x has 1 car in his class he beats him earns 85 points does this 3 times for a total of 255 points.
I have run 12 rounds and wind up with 240 points. He ran 3 rounds and beats me handily with 255 points
And they call that leveling the playing field.

I have never fished, but have never heard of anything like that. Strange!

Art, it sounds like you are (were) more obsessed with class than eliminator. Why is that? Winning SS eliminator pays a lot more than winning class ever did. Why would you quit over that? Do you really think NHRA is out to screw you personally for some reason? Why?

Art the system is easy to beat. All you need to do is have two cars that run the same oddball class. Show up race against your own car and end up with a perfect score.
