Default Stick cars at Indy

Is it just me or do the clutch guys seem to do really well at Indy. Maybe I am wrong. Just seems that way. Congrats to Tim Bishop today.

Anyone got any stats on Indy winners with sticks?

Thumbs up Re: Stick cars at Indy

There for a while stick cars won alot. Jim with his N/S, Kevin Heilms 3 yrs with his B/S, Dave Walther with his H/S, Eric Waldo's B/S. I am sure there are other but I do remember these. Great job to Tim for adding to this list.

Statistically, stick cars win more in relation to their population numbers than automatic cars. A factor in that analysis is the quality of the racers who choose to race a stick, which may be more of a factor than any inherent advantage a clutch car has.

Just wait until some of the DP's change over to a stick not to mention the Mustangs due to the AHFS factoring. Remember when an auto combo gets a hit the stick combo stays the same.

I don't know much about engine building... man! Must be a huge investment to have both an automatic engine dyno and a stick-shift engine dyno...

It would only even *start* to make sense to have different HP factors for the exact same engine *maybe* if sticks and autos were run together.

It couldn't have been said any better.
