Default Calvin Queahpama passes

Longtime Northwest stock racer Cal Queahpama died on Friday, August 30 at Warm Springs, Oregon. Cal was a real gentleman and one of the most decent guys I ever met, in any walk of life. He would always greet you with a smile and handshake. Cal's 283 powered wagons and 4-doors were always a lot of fun to watch, especially when they got huge handicap starts.

Cal was 67 years old.

That is indeed sad news. Cal was a racer's racer and a real gentleman. The world needs more people like Cal Queahpama. Condolences to his family.

Thought I never met Cal, read about him for many years, may he rest in peace and his family and friends be able to live in his memory with love.

I'm sorry to hear this. He was a very nice man. Division 6 loses another fine racer and gentleman.

Tom you said it exactly how I would. I last watched Cal at the '88 Winters and remember hearing other racers say how much a gentleman he was. The people I've met and friendships I've gained over the years are my most valued treasure and the only thing that can't be bought in class racing. Without the friendships....class racing is meaningless. Cal is another great soul I missed out on meeting.

Rest In Peace Mr. Queahpama

I know this thread is 2 years old.
But Cal was quite a gentleman. We had to rerun him 3 times in the final round of the 1980 Fall Nationals at Seattle.
He just got the car ready and raced didn't bi*tch a bit.
The first run they said we broke out with a nine second run (imposible even for us).
The second run the win light came on in Cal's lane well before either car got to the stripe.
The third time was a charm for Cal and he got the win.
I hate to admit it but we would not have been as easy going.

Cal and Ray (Tex) now know the true story of what went on that day.
