I frequently use YouTube when I need to learn something. I would love to see someone show average Joe Newbie how to get into Stock Eliminator for under $10k including tow rig. Billy and others continue to point out bargain combinations that are competitive. What if we had a well produced YouTube series? Maybe Bobby Fazio would consider being the editor. Billy Nees and Mark Y could be the producers. One of us is the mechanic working along the side of a 19 year old(the mechanic could be one of you guys that have retired from racing). Do the whole thing start to finish with the 19 year old. Explain on YouTube why the combination should be competitive, shop for and buy the car. Do the prep work to the car(without using a lift). Then the 19 year old gets in the drivers seat and the experts help him through testing to get under the index and finally into competition. Film it all start to finish and make it honest, include the mistakes made in the project. We all make mistakes. In the end of the video review itemized list of the money spent.
If the 19 year old competes in 4 events the first season he gets the whole operation. Maybe this project pays for his entry fee for every race he attends in the first season. I, like others, started racing by pulling my 67 Camaro with NMW Tow Hubs with my 69 Nova 307 (ie no trailer). It is important to demonstrate that most racing operations are in a continuous evolution and there is no shame is starting with the basics. If you evolve long enough you can have a great racing operation and group of friends. I would contribute to this effort to keep drag racing alive. We need something like this video series to get the word out and get others joining our sport. Ray
